FAU 达尼亚海滩 Research Center

SeaTech,能力 Institute for Ocean and Systems Engineering, at the 达尼亚海滩 is located on eight acres between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway with valuable access to the ocean and seawater.

FAU 达尼亚海滩 is home to the nation's first ocean engineering program. The campus was established in 1997 as a state-funded Type II research center, the institute is part of FAU's Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering.

A team of world-class faculty members, 工程师, technicians and 学生 are engaged in federally and industry-sponsored ocean engineering research and technology development in the areas of acoustics, marine vehicles, hydrodynamics and physical oceanography, marine materials and nanocomposites.

SeaTech builds on, and complements, the academic programs of the Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering and forms the means for technology advancement, collaboration with academia, industry and government, and transition of research projects to applications.

Centers and Institutes

Center for Acoustics and Vibrations

The Center of Acoustics and Vibrations in the College of Engineering and Computer Science specializes in underwater acoustics, sonar technology, structural acoustics and vibration, aero-acoustics and hydro-acoustics. Research support is provided by the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, The Naval Surface Warfare Center, The Naval Underwater Systems Center, the Naval Research Laboratory and NASA.

Center for Hydrodynamics and Physical Oceanography

The Center for Hydrodynamics and Physical Oceanography in the College of Engineering and Computer Science conducts research in ocean modeling, flow measurement and computational fluid dynamics involving near shore processes, nonlinear wave mechanics, 湍流, and coherent vortex dynamics. Funding is supported by federal and state agencies and the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research.

Center for Marine Materials

Focused on marine corrosion education and research, the Center for Marine Materials in the College of Engineering and Computer Science is working in the areas of corrosion, materials science and energy storage. Located within FAU’s Department of Ocean Engineering, the center’s facilities include an on-campus materials laboratory and an ocean-side marine corrosion laboratory, where flowing natural seawater is available.

SeaTech - The Institute for Ocean & Systems Engineering

The Institute for Ocean & Systems Engineering is part of FAU’s Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. It includes world-class faculty members, 工程师 and technicians, and graduate 学生 engaged in federal and industry sponsored ocean engineering research and technology development in the areas of acoustics, marine vehicles, hydrodynamics and physical oceanography, marine materials and nano-composites.

Centers and Institutes

SeaTech enjoys a long-term partnership with the Naval Surface Warfare Center – Carderock Division 和它的 South Florida Testing Facility (SFTF) which extends offshore south of Port Everglades over a 18 nautical miles cross-self by 4 nautical miles along shelf region, encompassing water depth of up to over 700 nautical miles. The partnership provides extensive combined in-water test and evaluation capabilities for AUVs and other underwater systems.
